“The opportunity to work with Antonio Conte, a brilliant coach, and some of the best players in the world was simply too good to turn down.

300+ MUSLIMS BURN DOWN CHRISTIAN HOMES

Hundreds of Muslims burn down Christian homes as warning not to build new church

A 300-STRONG throng of Muslims torched a group of Christian houses in Egypt because they wanted to build a church on their own land.
The horror attack on at least four Coptic Christian homes in the Kom el Loofy village in Samalout, Upper
Egypt, happened despite the landowner, Coptic man Ashraf Khalaaf, signing papers at a police station promising he would not use his property as a place of worship.
Coptics, who belong to the oriental Orthodox family of churches, make up the majority of Christians in Egypt and northeast Africa.
They have become increasingly persecuted by Muslims, especially with the rise of Islamic State (ISIS) over the past few years.
Kiri Kankhwende, press officer for Christian Solidarity Worldwide, said: "The torching of Coptic homes in Kom El Loofy underscores once more the urgent need for Egypt's House of Representatives to enact a law regulating the construction and renovation of houses of worship in a manner that guarantees the right of Christians to worship in community with others.
The attack happened in Kom Al Lufi, upper Egypt
"We echo the Bishophric of Samaloot in condemning the imposition of reconciliation meetings as a replacement for the rule of law because they impose ad-hoc, unjust and often un-constitutional conditions on the victims of sectarian violence and perpetuate impunity for the perpetrators.
"Rule of law must be upheld, and must include security services nationwide serving every community without discrimination on the grounds of religion."
Last week ISIS affiliates in Egypt claimed responsibility for the shooting and killing of Coptic Priest Raphael Mousa in the town of El-Arish.
The jihadi group said it targeted and killed the 46 year old priest for "combatting Islam".
Coptics have faced persecution for years
Earlier in June, an angry Muslim mob destroyed dozens of Coptic Christian homes and properties in the Egyptian village of Al-Beida after believing one of the buildings was set to be turned into a church.
Christians marked the one year anniversary in February of a now infamous ISIS "nation of the cross" video where 21 Coptic Christians were beheaded.
At the time, Bishop Amba Angaelos, general bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Church, said: "One profound result and gift of this horrific act is that it brought people together.
"These men paid the ultimate price, but gave us a cause to advocate for all those persecuted; they also showed us that there was a level of evil that we must all stand in solidarity against, and a level of courage, faithfulness and defiance that we must all aspire to."

CULTISTS KILL 11 PEOPLE, INJURE MANY AND DESTROY PROPERTIES TO MARK 7/7

Stupid Cultists Kill 11 Persons In Ogun To Mark Anniversary

No fewer than 11 persons have been killed by suspected cult members in Igode and Fakale communities in the Sagamu area of Ogun State. Four persons were also injured while houses and cars were vandalised in the crazy attack that lasted for about 10 hours.

It was learnt that the hoodlums, said to be Aye Confraternity members, had gone on the rampage at about 11am on Wednesday while commemorating their anniversary tagged 7/7.

The grand finale of the anniversary was reportedly held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Emuren, a neighbouring community.

It was gathered that the hoodlums, numbering about 25 on motorcycles, came from Emuren, wielding guns and cutlasses.

Their targets were said to be members of the Eiye Confraternity, a rival cult. The bandits, who reportedly wore masks, shot dead three welders at a junction bordering Emuren and Igode.

The welders were said to be returning from a work site on a motorcycle.

The rampaging cultists reportedly proceeded to the Fakale community, where they opened fire on a crowd watching a football match in a viewing centre, killing seven persons.

It was learnt that one of the deceased, identified simply as Dare, was a member of the Oodua People’s Congress.

Others were identified as Ibukun, Ismaila, Sunday, and a steel rod seller, Dare Olakanmi.

Three of them were said to have been buried.

However, the police had yet to remove the remains of the three welders as of 12pm on Thursday.

Four others, who were injured, were said to have been taken to a hospital in Sagamu.

When Punch visited the communities on Thursday, it observed that palpable fear had enveloped them.

Many residents were said to have fled while commercial activities had been paralysed as shops were shut.

10 policemen were spotted at a junction in Fakale.

The Coordinator of the OPC in the community, Wole Oladunjo, said, “The fight was between Eiye and Aye confraternities. The Aye members are based in Emuren. The OPC had nothing to do with the fight. But surprisingly, they (Aye members) came here on Wednesday and started shooting sporadically. They killed seven persons in a viewing centre.

“One of the deceased was our member. The others killed were not Eiye members. They were hard working youths. Four persons are still in the hospital receiving treatment. The police picked four corpses and three of them have been buried.

“The policemen, who came that evening, were blaring their sirens from afar and this gave those boys the chance to escape.”

An OPC member, who identified himself as Ajibola Defence, told Punch that the hoodlums inscribed 7/7 on those killed and on a refrigerator they destroyed inside a shop.

Secretary of the OPC in the community, Idris Lawal, vowed that his members would avenge the killings, adding that the victims were innocent residents.

Baale of Fakale, Chief Ganiyu Bisiriyu, lamented the security situation in Ogun State and urged government to ensure the protection of lives and property.

The Igode community head, Chief Rafiu Disu, said the bandits also vandalised two houses and a car.

Two rams belonging to one Olalekan Oyenuga were reportedly killed by the hoodlums.

The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the killings, saying that the police had restored calm to the area and on the trail of the suspects.”

Beg FG To Release Me, I’m Ready For Trial – Sambo Dasuki

Beg FG To Release Me, I’m Ready For Trial – Sambo Dasuki

Former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki has protested his detention for alleged $15bn arms deals facilitated by the Office of National Security Adviser (ONSA), under the watch of the former president, Goodluck Jonathan.

He says the Federal Government should allow his trial to begin. Dasuki is said to have told his associates that he is not disposed to a secret trial.

He insists that based on service rules in a security system, he only obeyed the directive of the President and Commander-in-Chief, former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The ex-NSA, according to The Nation, told his associates: “I am ready for trial because they have destroyed my family’s name and my professional integrity, especially how we successfully fought Boko Haram and recovered major towns and cities, not villages. They should let my trial start in earnest to enable Nigerians know the truth from falsehood."

There is a plan to try Dasuki’s case in secret to protect some of the witnesses. But Dasuki disagreed.

He said: ”I don’t believe in secret trial and there is no basis for it because the government has filed all necessary papers in court and attached the list of witnesses. Since the witnesses have become public knowledge, there is no basis for secret trial."

He pleaded Nigerians to help prevail on the federal government to admit him to bail in line with the present administration’s commitment to the Rule of Law.

Dasuki said: “All those who collected funds from ONSA have been granted bail but I am still in custody. I have been granted bail on all the cases filed against me by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and even DSS, but I have not been released.

"If all the beneficiaries of the so-called funds are on bail, what have I done wrong? Nigerians should help prevail on the government to grant me bail.

"I cannot rock the boat.
I am prepared for trial. We did everything with national and security interest.”

Dasuki stressed that he disbursed all the money credited to ONSA based on the directive Jonathan.

ISIS EXTREMISTS BEHEAD 4 FOOTBALLERS AFTER DECLARING THE SHORT

ISIS extremists behead four footballers after declaring the sport anti-Islamic

ISIS militants have beheaded four members of a football team after declaring the sport anti-Islamic.
The extremists banned organised sports like football when they took over Raqqa in Syria more than two years ago.

Fans in the city used to flock to watch Al-Shabab play matches in the city’s large stadium.
But earlier this week crowds watched as the four young men – accused of spying for the Kurdish YPG – were dispatched by ISIS executioners.
A fifth unknown man was also killed.Photographs of the the aftermath of the gruesome execution, together with snaps of three of stars lining up for their side in the days before ISIS invaded, were released in a series of tweets by protest group, Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently. The men were named as Osama Abu Kuwait, Ihsan Al Shuwaikh, Nehad Al Hussein and Ahmed Ahawakh.
One said: “Osama Abu Ku
wait a player in Al Shbab team in Raqqa for football Behead by ISIS.”
Another tweet read: “Photo for Ihsan Al Shuwaikh, a Player in AL Shbab team for football in #Raqqa Behead by #ISIS #Syria.”
The group shared a picture of a player standing in the team’s red kit with a lion on the shirt stood in front fans in a stadium with the words: “They Accused them for being spies for the Kurds , Photo for Nehad Al Hussein number 12 , #Raqqa #Syria #ISIS.”
Nehad was also circled in a team line-up wearing the number 12 shirt with coaching staff on the pitch at a ground.
The group initially said three players had been killed by the terror group but later added a fourth name to the list.
It is not the first time ISIS has targeted the sport of football.
Last year militants executed 13 teenage boys for watching the Asian Cup football match between Iraq and Jordan.
The young football fans had been caught watching the game on television in the Iraqi city of Mosul, which is controlled by the Islamic State.

LAMAR ODOM RESPONDS TO KHLOE'S DIVORCE FILING, ASKS JUDGE TO DENY SPOUSAL SO SUPPORT

Lamar Odom Responds to Khloe Kardashian's Divorce Filing, Asks Judge to Deny Spousal Support

Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian isn't completely over and done with.
The NBA star filed a response to the E! star's filing from May today in a Los Angeles Superior Court, reiterating that "irreconcilable differences" was the reason for the dissolution of marriage, but also requests
that the judge deny the court's ability to award Khloe with spousal support.
The court documents, obtained by E! News, also state that Odom has requested all attorney fees and costs be paid by Khloe.
In late May, the E! star went forward with the divorce after putting it on hold to tend to his health needs. Khloe's attorney Laura Wasser went into court and asked the judge to withdraw the divorce petition that was awaiting a judge's signature. The judge granted the petition and the divorce case was over.
A source told E! News at the time, "Khloe is looking forward to moving on."
The pair first filed for divorce in December 2013, but as you might remember, Khloe famously called it off in October of last year. A source told us at the time, "Khloe thinks this was the right thing to do right now."
The news came shortly after the E! star rushed to her husband's side at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas after he was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel on Oct. 13.
"I just thought it was really insensitive to [expedite the divorce]," she admitted in an interview with KIIS FM at the time.
"I get it, I get why it's confusing, I understand all of that. James Harden has been great. He's been very supportive with everything. There's of course times where I'm sure he was really uncomfortable about some of the things, but I'm a very honest person and I have nothing to hide and I was very open with how I feel like I had to handle everything with Lamar."

Kim Kardashian set to dominate new apple stickers

Apple’s creating a new sticker brand, and Kim Kardashian is going to dominate it

by Joon Ian Wong

Stickers are worth hundreds of millions of dollars to chat platforms. The virtual tchotchkes earned $268 million for the chat app LINE last year. As Apple lays the foundations for its own sticker economy, with an overhaul of iMessage in iOS 10 due in a few months, none other than Kim Kardashian West is waiting in the wings to capitalize on it.

Kim K is way ahead of the curve. Last December she released a hit sticker app called Kimoji, that for $1.99, lets users paste custom-made images of herself into their messages. It's by far the biggest money-maker among celebrity-emoji apps on the App Store, according to data from app analytics firm Sensor Tower.

When stickers are baked in to iOS 10, Kimoji's opportunities to make money are going to explode. "It's clear that users are willing to pay a premium for stickers," says Randy Nelson, an analyst at Sensor Tower. "Initiatives like [the iOS 10 changes to iMessage] will only increase their adoption as users can buy emoji from within the most popular messenger and have them seamlessly integrated."

Kimoji is on track to make over $2.8 million in revenues worldwide this year, and it's never been ranked below the top 10 most downloaded apps in the App Store's "entertainment" category, according to Sensor Tower. In the United States, Kimoji is making about 10 times the revenue of its closest competitors, which are sticker apps from basketball star Stephen Curry and Justin Bieber. Here's what that looks like charted:

https://www.theatlas.com/charts/BJ6LB7TL

Kimoji's success can be attributed to disparate factors. Firstly, it's a keyboard app, which means it can be universally accessed from within any iPhone application that requires text input. That's a clever workaround, because iPhone users aren't spending screentime with new apps. Secondly, the Kimoji app is still quite fiddly because it's a keyboard app. Users have to activate it in their phone's settings before it's available. By contrast, a version of Kimoji released as a native sticker app for iMessage would be frictionless.

Kardashian works with a Los Angeles-based company called Whalerock Industries to produce her app and design the emoji within it. Whalerock won't say how it shares the app's revenues with Kardashian. The Whalerock staffer in charge of turning Kardashian's vision of emoji into virtual reality is Jen Allen Garcia. "She comes up with ideas, and we execute them," Garcia says. "We go back and forth on designs. She’s very particular, very specific. She’s incredibly detailed."

The idea for Kimoji sprang up because Kardashian sensed that a different order of pictograph was needed to capture the zeitgeist among her fans, Garcia says, and conventional emoji just weren't cutting it. "She wanted to create images that people were talking about via text," Garcia says. "Sometimes it’s about sex, sometimes its about partying. 'We’re missing a condom, we’re missing birth control.' We’re pushing boundaries."

Indeed, nearly all Kimoji wouldn't make it past a Unicode Consortium selection process to be included as standard, universally available emoji. Many depict specific people (Kim, her husband Kanye West, and their daughter North West, for starters) and would probably be deemed too "transient" to be adopted. The most popular Kimoji also include what might be considered risqué pictographs, like a depiction of Kardashian's butt. In fact, the "butt" Kimoji is the second most used pictograph. "We have a black Jesus in the Kimoji pack, so it’s not something you’re going to see everywhere," says Garcia. "She knows what she wants."

Here are the top Kimoji, according to Whalerock:

POLICE KILL BLACK MAN WHO POINTED A GUN AT THEM

Houston police shot and killed a black man who pointed a gun at them last night

by Ana Campoy

Two Houston policemen shot and killed an African-American man who they say refused to obey commands to lower his gun in the middle of the night Saturday (July 9), according to local authorities.

The incident happened as Texas and the country are in a state of heightened tension after the killing of five police officers in Dallas at a Black Lives Matter protest.

The two Houston officers were on patrol when they spotted the man, who was standing in the middle of a four-way intersection with a gun pointed towards the sky, said Jodi Silva, a spokesperson for the Houston police department.

The officers got out of their car and asked the man to put down his weapon. Witnesses at the scene were also yelling “Put down the gun! Put down the gun!” she added.

But the man instead lowered it to aim it straight at the officers. Fearful for the lives of bystanders and their own, the officers then shot the man several times, said Silva. The officers and paramedics provided first aid to the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, said Silva.

The department has not released his identity, but local media identified him as Alva Braziel.

The string of killings of black men by police around the country has put departments under increasing scrutiny. Houston’s police department has been releasing statistics on incidents in which their officers fire their guns. So far this year, there have been 16 such incidents, during which 10 people were wounded and four were killed.

The latest shooting is being investigated by two separate divisions within the Houston police department, as well as by the district attorney of the county where Houston sits, Harris.

At the same time, police departments are also conscious of the potential for violence against them. After the attack in Dallas, Houston police officers were advised “to be vigilant, to be careful and to have increased awareness of the situations around them,” said Silva. Officers who normally ride alone were offered the option of patrolling in pairs for safety.

"GHOST SPIRIT" POSSESS POPULAR MODEL ON A LIVE TV PROGRAM

A strange clip, appearing to show a young model suddenly become possessed by a ghost, has quickly gone viral.

The young model was being interviewed on a Thai TV show when she told the host she was often visited by a sinister ghost.

Thirteen minutes into the interview, Thippawan "Pui" Chaphupuang, announced that a "pop" — a cannibalistic spirit in Thai folkore- had come to possess her.

Pui then slipped into Pop as the host asked the 'ghost' questions as to why it continued to possess the young woman.

According to an Internet translation, the host asked Pop: "Why can't you leave her?"

TV presenter unnerved as woman becomes 'possessed' and then is 'de-demonised' during TV segment
To which, the spirit replied in a strange voice: "Someone sent me here!"

The entity appearing to possess Pui's body refused to say who had sent it and demanded pigs' blood as the woman writhed around and shrieked, strangely.

Pop spirits are greatly feared in Thai mythical culture.

Folklore has it that they possess women who like to eat human insides and can even eat the body of the woman they occupy as they sleep

NIGERIANS CAN FINALLY BLOCK UNWANTED MESSAGES FROM THEIR NETWORK OPERATORS

Nigerians can finally block nuisance text messages from their phone networks

by Yomi Kazeem

Nigeria's telecoms regulator has directed phone networks to give subscribers the option of activating a 'do not disturb' (DND) feature to prevent being spammed by promotional texts. Networks have to provide a code "to allow any subscriber who does not want to receive unwanted messages from the operators bar such messages."

A Full DND which is SMS "STOP" to 2442 does not allow the subscribers to receive any unsolicited message from the operators at all.

— ncc.gov.ng (@NgComCommission) July 3, 2016

The promotional spam text culture has been mainly driven by companies providing subscription-based information services that range from daily news to health, business and finance tips at a cost. In a bid to boost subscription numbers and revenue, networks have been known to offer one week trials after which a subscriber becomes automatically listed and charged for the service unless they expressly ask for it to be cancelled.

This tactic has been criticized as fraudulentas mobile users are charged for weeks without knowledge of being actively subscribed to the service. "It's annoying," a Nigerian commenter told BBC. "It's an abuse of my rights and they intrude my privacy. In a day, I get up to 10 texts."

"The unsolicited messages are a complete nuisance and sometimes they charge us for it," added another commenter. "How can you even pay for something you don't even like?"

As the NCC ramps up regulation of promotional texts, it could next turn its focus on applying similar policies to caller ring back tones (CRBT) services. Just like spam messages, mobile users are often signed up to various local hit songs as their ring back tones without their knowledge or approval. The popularity of the ring back tones service in general has morphed into a key revenue source for the local music industry as physical music sales have steadily declined. MTN, Africa's largest phone company, told CNN last month ring back tones generate around $80 million a year.

https://www.theatlas.com/charts/E1QlocbAx

To enforce the new policy, Umar Danbatta, Nigeria Communication Commission's executive vice Chairman has warned of "huge sanctions" for non-compliant networks. Given the NCC's eight month tussle with MTN, the country's largest network, which culminated in a $1.7 billion settlement, mobile networks are likely to be well aware of the Commission's recent tough stance on compliance.

BEFORE WE EXECUTE REV. KING, GOV. AMBODE HAS TO SIGN - NIGERIAN PRISON FORCE

NPF Awaits Lagos State Governor
Ambode’s Signature To Hang Rev King, Nigeria Prison
Service Needs More Executioners, Hang Men For 1639
Convicts On Death Row
The Nigeria Prisons Service yesterday confirmed that 1, 639
inmates are awaiting execution in various prisons dotted
across the country. According to the Public Relations Officer
of Prisons, Mr. Francis Emorde, the last time the Service
carried out execution was 2013.
He also explained that the reason behind the delay in
execution was as a result of the state governors’
unwillingness to sign execution papers for the sheriff to
carry out the order. He also confirmed that despite Friday’s
Supreme Court ruling upholding the death sentence passed
on Rev. Emeka Ezeugo, aka Rev. King, the governor of
Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, would still have to sign
the necessary document for the execution to be carried out.
However, according to figures from the National Bureau of
Statistics (NBS), Rev King has just joined the growing
number of people waiting for their executions to be carried
out on death row. NBS figures shows the 16 people were on
death row 2007, 92 in 2008, 31 in 2009, 56 in 2010, and 72
in 2011, with the latest statement from the Prisons Service
confirming that the figure has swelled to 1, 639.
Thus, with such a large number of people on death row and
very few hangmen in the country, there are indications that
Rev, King may stay much longer on Mother Earth, while
waiting for his turn to face the executioner. Besides, the
failure of many governors to sign death sentence is another
possible reason for the delay.
The Criminal Procedure Act of each state provides that
governors should affirm death sentences of condemned
criminals before execution. Only four death row inmates
were executed in 2013. And since then, no state governor
has confirmed any death sentence. However, shortly after
President Goodluck Jonathan urged state governors to sign
death warrants for death row prisoners on June 16, 2013,
four prisoners were executed, including Thankgod Ebhos, a
father of three.
All four individuals reportedly still had appeals pending when
executed, which is a violation of both Nigerian and
international law. In 2013, the capital execution rate is
41,650,000 persons. In spite of human rights activists’
efforts to abolish the death penalty globally, it appears to be
gaining more popularity in many countries. A report from
Amnesty International shows that 1,925 death sentences
were issued in 2013 and the figure rose to 2,466 in 2014.
The dramatic rise is due to the number of the death
sentence issued by countries seeking to tackle crime,
terrorism, and internal stability. In Nigeria, 659 death
sentences were recorded in 2014, a jump of more than 500
compared with the 2013 figures – 141.
The surge in 2014 can be attributed to the mass death
sentences passed on soldiers, who were convicted of
mutiny in the context of the armed conflict with Boko Haram
terrorists in the North, by military courts. Incidentally,
Nigeria leads the chart with 659 death sentences, Egypt
follows closely with 509 and Pakistan rounded off the top
three lists with 231 inmates to be executed in 2014.
However, it appears that capital punishment has failed as a
preventive measure against crime in Nigeria A statistical
appraisal of crime rate in Nigeria by the Department of
Statistics, Abia State Polytechnic, shows there has been a
significant growth over the years and if not checked, it will
keep rising
