IMSU MATRICULATION 2018: THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY

The gates to the city of Owerri, Imo State, were flung open with joy to receive guests, dignitaries, parents, guardians and well wishers from across the 36 states of the federation who came to be  participants and witness the 26th matriculation ceremony of the prestigious Imo State University.

Even if the roads and streets leading to the institution was flooded with all kinds of vehicles and humans, the coolers of food and drinks still found their way around and made it to the designated canopies for a jolly treat.

The entire celebration kicked off with a procession of all matriculating students, followed by an official welcome address from the Vice Chancellor who was ably represented by deans of various faculties after which the matriculating students trooped to their respective canopies set up for their sake by the departments, faculties, local government associations and even campus fellowships.

Various speakers kept blasting different kinds and types of music from hip-hop to highlife, gospel from the fellowship stands and the L.G.A's kept their canopies alive with spicy traditional vibes as the food and drinks found its way to the stomach of its recipients.

Situation reports within the campus was laden with mixed feelings as some parents, families and guests endured the scorch of the sun accompanied with the noise and the bustle but still couldn't reach or connect to their wards because of the terrible network condition caused by congestion on that fateful day, they had to go back home with their goodies untouched.

However, as there was merriment and celebrations going on within campus, some students and guests were left in a pensive mood as they mourned the loss of their money and valuables (mobile phones, wallets, purses, wrist watches even shoes) to petty thieves and shy carelessness.  Also, in the various alliances where students reside, reports filtered in that students were been harassed and extorted by miscreants who decided to take advantage of the celebratory activities to enrich their pockets and satisfy their lustful greed, but much to our relieve, the Nigerian Police Force was on ground, culprits were apprehended, normalcy and sanity was restored.

Speaking with varying guests who unilaterally pledged anonymity, they expressed their views and concerns over the high fare of transportation within the state, stating how much they spent just to get to the campus which is located in the heart of the city.
Others lamented on the cramped sitting situations in the 'TAXIMO'cabs, stating that their clothes got really rumpled before they could arrive at the campus.

KAIRE and Crew was on ground to witness the event non-stop and also looks forward to a better matriculation ceremony come 2019

GOOD NEWS: IMSU TO ADMIT STUDENTS INTO MEDICINE, NURSING & MED. LAB. SCIENCE DEPARTMENT.

It's indeed a thing of joy that once more, the departments of Medicine, Nursing & Medical Laboratory Science would be welcoming freshers into the department for the 2018/2019 academic session.

The above mentioned departments lost the NUC accreditation, therefore, were unable to admit new students since 2016, leaving budding aspirants opting for other courses and even those who ignorantly chose the departments were left hanging in the limbo.

However, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victoria Adaobi Obasi, in her welcome address to the 2017/2018 matriculating students on the 16th of March 2018 made it known that the departments have successfully gained the NUC accreditation and therefore liable to admit new students into the department.

KAJRE and crew heartily felicitates with the above mentioned departments and also encourages yearning aspirants to pursue their dreams to the fullest without fear by choosing the courses of their choice and interests.
